Footie-Fu

You know you want one of those yellow robes

The beautiful game gets the postmodern kung fu movie treatment in Stephen Chow’s Shaolin Soccer (2001). You’ve got the expected Hong Kong cinema elements like unrequited love, the quest to restore personal honor, the awakening of supernatural energy through martial arts, a band of misfits rediscovering ancient wisdom, etc. Plus madcap CGI, cartoon sensibility (you know Mr. Chow watched plenty of Captain Tsubasa as a kid) and wacky musical numbers. This films is 100% candy and it is delicious.
